Library Induction Programme for First-Year Students

A library induction for first-year degree students is an important event designed to familiarise them with the resources and services available in the library. Throughout the whole month of August 2024, the Library and Information Centre offered first-year students a library orientation program.

The students were to be brought to the library by the faculty members of their different departments. Students are welcomed first when they enter the Library and Information Centre.

Details about the resources available at the library were given. They were given directions on how to check out from the library the books they needed. The news and magazines that would be arriving at the library were shared with the students. There was also discussion of the benefits of reading them.

Reference books were introduced to the students, and reading competitive books was encouraged. After that, students were assured that fiction novels existed and that reading them would provide them with solid knowledge.

It is recommended that students utilise the computers in the Browsing Centre, which are reserved for their use.

Instructed to become a member of the library and information centre. Strictly informed to follow library rules and regulations.

In the orientation program held on 26-08-2024, all students were called upon to read at least 20 books from the library every year.
