Anemia Awareness and Hemoglobin Testing Camp

The Youth Red Cross and Red Ribbon Unit organized an “Anemia Awareness and Hemoglobin Testing Camp” on 17.04.2026 in collaboration with Harshitha Institution. The programme aimed to create awareness among students about anaemia and to promote better health practices.

During the programme, Mr. Ramashetty delivered an informative session on anemia, explaining its causes, symptoms, and preventive measures. He emphasized the importance of maintaining proper nutrition and regular health check-ups to avoid complications related to low hemoglobin levels.

The Principal addressed the gathering and advised the students to adopt healthy food habits, highlighting the importance of a balanced diet rich in iron and essential nutrients for maintaining good health.

As part of the camp, hemoglobin levels of students were tested. Students identified with low hemoglobin levels were provided with iron supplements and were advised to improve their dietary intake. They were also instructed to recheck their hemoglobin levels after one month to monitor improvement.

The programme was highly beneficial in creating health awareness and encouraging students to take proactive steps towards maintaining their well-being. The organizers expressed their gratitude to Harshitha Institution for their support and cooperation in successfully conducting the camp.








































Ayurveda in Action: Educational Field Visit to Government Ayurvedic Hospital

The Department of Sociology organized an educational field visit to the Government Ayurvedic Hospital, Channarayapatna, on 17.04.2026 for the final year B.A. students. This visit was conducted as a part of the Sociology of Health paper prescribed in the academic syllabus, with the objective of providing practical exposure to traditional healthcare systems and their relevance in contemporary society.

A total of 18 students actively participated in the field visit under the guidance of the Head of the Department, Dr. Praveen Kumar S., along with faculty member Mr. Ajay Kumar. The visit aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and real-world practices in the field of health and medicine.

During the visit, Dr. Triveni explained the principles and practices of Ayurvedic medicine, highlighting the importance of natural healing, herbal remedies, balanced diet, and lifestyle in maintaining good health. She provided valuable insights into how Ayurveda focuses on holistic well-being and prevention of diseases.

In addition, Dr. Basira gave an informative session on Unani treatment, explaining its unique approach to diagnosis and healing based on the balance of bodily humors. The students gained a comparative understanding of different traditional systems of medicine and their continued relevance in modern healthcare.

The students also observed the functioning of various sections of the hospital and interacted with the medical staff, which helped them understand the practical aspects of healthcare delivery in traditional systems. The visit enhanced their knowledge of alternative medicine and its role in society, especially in rural and semi-urban areas.

This field visit proved to be highly informative and enriching, enabling students to relate sociological concepts of health, illness, and healthcare systems to real-life situations.

Birth Anniversary of Vardhamana Mahavira

The Department of History organized the Birth Anniversary celebration of Vardhamana Mahavira on 31st March 2026 in the college seminar hall with great devotion and enthusiasm.

The programme was presided over by the Principal, who addressed the gathering and highlighted the timeless teachings of Mahavira, especially his principles of Ahimsa (non-violence), truth, and compassion, which remain highly relevant in today’s society.

HOD Shekimran delivered the introductory speech, explaining the significance of observing Mahavira Jayanti and emphasising the importance of moral values in shaping responsible citizens.

Mr. Ravivarma,  delivered an insightful special lecture on the life and philosophy of Vardhamana Mahavira. He elaborated on Mahavira’s teachings and encouraged students to practice ethical values, self-discipline, and non-violence in their daily lives.

Students and faculty members actively participated in the programme, making it a meaningful and informative event. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the celebration.

A Special Lecture Programme on A Brief Study of Poetry

Department of English organised a special lecture on the topic entitled “A Brief Study of Poetry” on 28-03-2026 at 10:30 AM at in the seminar Hall.

The programme commenced with an invocation song by Mr. Prajwal, I B.A. student. Soon after that Mr. Ningaraju, Head of the Department of English welcomed the chief guest and gatherings. Thereafter it was inaugurated by the chief guest and the dignitaries through watering plant as symbol of prosperity and growth.

Prof. Bernard F, Resource person of the programme from Head of the Department of English, GFGC, Holenarasipura,delivered an insightful lecture on poetry, explaining its forms, elements, and significance in literature. His session was engaging and enriched the students’ understanding of poetic expression. He threw the light on the emerge of poetry from various writers of different periods such as words worth of Romantic period and Milton of Puritan period and his famous works Paradise Last and Paradise Regained and  21st century famous poem  Second Coming of WB Yeats. Continuing his speech explores the theme of Rabhindranath Tagoore’s Geethanjali.

Dr. M.K. Manjunatha, Principal, addressed the students in his presidential speech who encouraged them to develop a deeper interest in literature and poetry.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Poojashree I BSc Student, who expressed gratitude to the resource person, dignitaries, and participants for making the event successful.

Educational Visit to Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary

The Department of Zoology organized an educational visit to Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary on 27.03.2026 for the I Year CBZ students. A total of 19 students, along with 3 faculty members, participated in the trip.

The visit was accompanied and guided by Dr. Nirupama M., Mrs. Arpitha H. J., and Mrs. Radamma K. M., who coordinated the programme efficiently. At the sanctuary, the students were guided by Ms. Gagana, Conservation Officer, who provided detailed information about the bird species, their habitats, and conservation practices followed in the sanctuary.

During the visit, students observed various migratory and resident birds in their natural surroundings. The guidance given by the Conservation Officer helped students gain deeper insights into avian diversity, ecological balance, and the importance of wildlife conservation.

The visit was highly educational and interactive, enabling students to relate their academic knowledge with field experience. Overall, the programme was successful and enriched the students’ understanding of biodiversity and conservation.
