BA and BCom Freshers Party

The Department of Arts and Commerce of Sri Adichunchanagiri First Grade College, Channarayapatna, organized a Welcome Ceremony for the First-Year B.A. and B.Com. students of the academic year 2025–26. The programme was arranged by the Second and Third-Year B.A. and B.Com. students.

The resource person of the event was Mr. L. Santhosh, PSI, Rural Police Station, Channarayapatna, who addressed the students with an inspiring talk. The programme was presided over by Dr. Manjunatha M.K., Principal of the college.

The event was organized under the guidance of Dr. Nagaraja, Head of the Department of Arts, and Mr. Sridhar A.N., Head of the Department of Commerce.

The programme successfully created a warm and motivating atmosphere for the newcomers and encouraged them to embark on their academic journey with enthusiasm.

Women's Rights and Responsibilities

 The Department of Sociology organised a Women's Rights and Responsibilities event on 2nd April 2025 to create an awareness among the students of women's rights and responsibilities.

Government Hospital Visit

On 26-03-2025, Dr. Praveen Kumar S from the Department of Sociology accompanied final-year B.A. Sociology students on a visit to Government Hospital Channarayapatna. This visit was organized as part of the NEP UG syllabus of the University of Mysore, which includes topics such as the Sociology of Health, the relationship between doctors, nurses, paramedical staff, and patients, as well as the system of medicine, biomedicine, and AYUSH. During the visit, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Mahesh guided the students on the dynamics of the doctor-nurse-paramedical staff-patient relationship and provided insights into both biomedicine and AYUSH. Additionally, Hospital Technician Mr. Gurumurthy led the students through various hospital blocks, explaining the range of services offered and detailing the free healthcare facilities provided by the government to the public. Nursing Superintendent Padmamma and Nursing staff member Girija were also present.

Visit to Purasabha

 On November 20, 2024, Dr. Praveen Kumar S, along with second-year B.A. Sociology students, visited Pura Sabha in Channarayapatna as part of their syllabus under the NEP UG University of Mysore. The syllabus covers topics such as urban planning, urban policy, urban development programs, urbanization, and environmental concerns. During the visit, the students were guided by Mr. Hemantha K.S., the Chief Officer, and Sharadamma, the Planning Officer. They provided insights into the urban plans of Channarayapatna, the area's development, sources of income, tax collection, and the utilization of funds for services such as roads, electricity, water supply, and garbage disposal. The visit allowed the students to gain a deeper understanding of urbanization and the policies in place in Channarayapatna.

Taluk Level Inter College Essay Writing Competition

A Taluk level intercollege essay competition on the topic of "Impact of online betting on society and remedies" was held by the Government First Grade College in Hirisave on March 26, 2024. Two of our students, Amulay R, a second semester B.COM student, and Gowtham K.T., a second semester B.A. student, participated in the essay writing competition and won the consolation prize, which is a cash prize of 1000/- rupees. The coordinator was Dr. Praveen Kumar S., head of the sociology department.

Essay Writing Competition Topic: Women Empowerment

    On March 12, 2024, the Sociology Department hosted an essay writing competition for all students on the theme of WOMEN EMPOWERMENT in honour of International Women's Day. The competition included 21 students from B.A., B.Sc., and B.Com. The head of the sociology department, Dr. Praveen Kumar S., was presented.
