Special Lecture Programme on Maxima

The Department of Mathematics organised a Special Lecture Programme on Maxima on 12th November 2025. The session aimed to enhance students’ understanding of mathematical computation using the Maxima software, which is an important tool for solving algebraic and calculus-based problems.

The resource person for the programme was Dr. Manjula K. M., Associate Professor, Department of Mathematics, Government First Grade College, Channarayapatna. She delivered an insightful lecture on the applications and functionalities of Maxima in solving complex mathematical problems, demonstrating various practical examples.

Inter-Department Quiz Competition on Mathematical and Logical Reasoning

 The Department of Mathematics organized an Inter-Department Quiz Competition on Mathematical and Logical Reasoning on 22nd September 2025. The event witnessed active participation from 63 students across three streams: BA, BSc, and BCom.

The competition was designed to test students’ aptitude in mathematical concepts, logical reasoning, and problem-solving skills. Participants engaged enthusiastically in various rounds, showcasing their analytical thinking and teamwork. The event not only encouraged a spirit of healthy competition but also strengthened the application of theoretical knowledge in practical problem-solving.

Overall, the quiz was a successful initiative to promote academic engagement and intellectual curiosity among students across departments.

Quiz Competition

Department of Mathematics, Sri Adhichunchanagiri First Grade College successfully conducted a Quiz competition in the college on 5^th April for the VI semester P.M. students of college. In this competition, three different teams namely, Aryabhat, Srinivasa Ramanujan and Archimedes with five participants in each team give tough battle to each other. Rules and regulations of the quiz were explained at the beginning. It was interesting three round competitions, including objectives question, buzzer round and rapid-fire round which engaged the students for one hour.

The students showcased their brilliance by rapidly answering the questions. Though some of the questions were very tricky, the teams tried to answer them with confidence. Although the teams participated actively, the team that scored the highest was Srinivasa Ramanujan team. It was very informative and knowledge enriching competition for the participants.

National Mathematics Day

In honour of the birth anniversary of renowned Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan, the Department of Mathematics observed National Mathematics Day (NMD) on December 22, 2023.

National Mathematics Day and Sri Srinivasa Ramanujam's birthday were organized by the Department of Physics and Mathematics. The students spoke the programme while Mr. Mohan, an Assistant Professor of Mathematics, spoke about mathematics history and about the Ramanujam's . Additionally, in order to foster a clear understanding and awareness of accessible and clean energy, the organizers held an essay competition.

ಭೌತಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ ಮತ್ತು ಗಣಿತ ವಿಭಾಗದ ವತಿಯಿಂದ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಗಣಿತ ದಿನಾಚರಣೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸ ರಾಮಾನುಜಂ ಅವರ ಜನ್ಮದಿನವನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು, ಗಣಿತಶಾಸ್ತ್ರದ ಸಹಾಯಕ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಮೋಹನ್ ಅವರು ಗಣಿತಶಾಸ್ತ್ರದ ಇತಿಹಾಸ ಮತ್ತು ರಾಮಾನುಜಂ ಅವರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು. ಹೆಚ್ಚುವರಿಯಾಗಿ, ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಬಹುದಾದ ಮತ್ತು ಶುದ್ಧ ಶಕ್ತಿಯ ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟ ತಿಳುವಳಿಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅರಿವನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸುವ ಸಲುವಾಗಿ, ಸಂಘಟಕರು ಪ್ರಬಂಧ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಯನ್ನು ನಡೆಸಿದರು.
