Orientation Programme for I B Sc students

 An Orientation Programme for B.Sc. students was organized on 17 August 2026 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. to warmly welcome the students and familiarize them with the institution, academic system, curricular activities, and various opportunities available during their college journey.

The programme commenced with an invocation song presented by K. M. Sinchana and team, seeking divine blessings for the successful beginning of the academic year. The programme was formally inaugurated by watering the plant, symbolizing growth, knowledge, and the bright future of the students.

Dr. Nirupama M. delivered the welcome speech, extending a warm welcome to the Principal, faculty members, and students. She highlighted the importance of the orientation programme in helping students understand the institution and begin their academic journey with confidence.

The orientation talk was delivered by Dr. Chandrashekar B. N. He introduced the students to the institution, academic system, curriculum, curricular and extracurricular activities, student committees, clubs, and various opportunities available in the college. He emphasized the importance of regular attendance, academic discipline, active participation, skill development, and overall personality development. He encouraged students to actively participate in various committees and college activities and make effective use of the facilities and opportunities provided by the institution.

The Presidential Address was delivered by Dr. Manjunath M. K., who motivated the students to pursue their academic goals with dedication, discipline, and confidence. He encouraged them to make the best use of the opportunities provided by the institution for their academic and personal development.

The programme was smoothly anchored by Lavanya and Preksha C. S., who coordinated the proceedings effectively. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. Arpitha H. J., who expressed gratitude to the Principal, faculty members, organizers, and students for their valuable presence and support.

The orientation programme provided a meaningful and encouraging beginning for the B.Sc. students, helping them understand the academic environment, institutional activities, and opportunities available to them. The programme motivated the students to actively participate in academic, curricular, extracurricular, and co-curricular activities throughout their college journey.

Scientific Exploration: Field Visit to Vijnatham

The Science Faculty members and students of the Science Study Activity of our college visited the Vijnatham Science Exhibition on 19.02.2026. The exhibition was held at Sri Adichunchanagiri and provided an excellent platform to explore scientific models, innovative projects, and recent advancements in various fields of science.

The visit was organized by the Science Forum with the objective of promoting experiential learning and enhancing scientific temperament among students. During the exhibition, students observed working models, interacted with presenters, and gained practical insights beyond classroom learning.

The field visit was highly informative and inspiring. It enriched the knowledge of both faculty and students and encouraged them to develop curiosity and research-oriented thinking.

Awareness Rally on World Ozone Day

On the occasion of World Ozone Day, an Awareness Rally was organized on 16-09-2025 by the Department of Science in collaboration with the NSS Unit. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. M.K. Manjunatha, Principal, who flagged off the rally.

The rally was initiated by Dr. B.N. Chandrashekar, Mr. Bhaskara J. Dr. Nirupama M., and Mrs. Arpitha H.J. and Mr. Narasimhamurthy P., with active participation from students and faculty members. The rally moved through the main areas of Channarayapatna city, spreading awareness among the public about the importance of protecting the ozone layer and the need for sustainable environmental practices.

Placards, slogans, and messages highlighting the significance of ozone layer conservation were displayed to sensitize the community. The programme successfully created awareness among the citizens and emphasized the role of every individual in protecting the environment for a better future.

B.Sc. Freshers’ Party – 2025

The B.Sc. Freshers’ Party – 2025 was held on 22nd August 2025 at 11:00 AM in the Seminar Hall of Sri Adichunchanagiri First Grade College, Channarayapatna. The programme was organized under the Science Forum.

The function began with a prayer by Miss Ganavi, III B.Sc., followed by the welcome address by Miss Lavanya G.M., II B.Sc. The chief guest of the day was Mr. K. Mohan Kumar, Assistant Director of Agriculture, Channarayapatna, who delivered an inspiring speech to the freshers. He advised the students to always keep their objectives in mind and strive towards achieving them with dedication.

Ms. Arpitha H.J., HoD of Physics Department, addressed the gathering with a keynote address, encouraging the students to excel in their academic and personal journey. Dr. Chandrashekar B.N. guided the programme with an overall address, motivating the students and appreciating the efforts of the Science Forum.

The event was anchored by Miss Pavithra S.D., III B.Sc., and concluded with a vote of thanks by Miss Moulya S.K., III B.Sc.

In the afternoon session, II and III B.Sc. students presented a cultural programme, showcasing their talents through music, dance, and other performances. Fun-filled games were conducted for the first-year students, which created an interactive and lively atmosphere. As a highlight of the day, the “Lucky Fresher” was selected by picking a name, done by the Chief Guest, making the event more memorable.

The Freshers’ Party ended with joy, enthusiasm, and a warm welcome extended to the new B.Sc. batch, marking the beginning of their academic journey at SAFG College.

National Science Day: 2024

 From the Science Forum, all disciplines in Science Departments celebrated a National Science Day on March 4,  2024 to promote the discovery of science. The resource person Prof. Dr. B.K. Kempegowda, Professor, Department of Chemistry, GFGC, Nanjanagudu. He explained the theme of this year 'Indigenous technology for Viksit Bharat'. He spoke to us on the adoption of technology in everyday life, the effectiveness of increased use, and the strategic distinction between it and earlier technology.

Dr. B.N. Chandrasekhar, the IQAC Coordinator, delivered the National Science day's keynote address. He explained the early life of C.V. Raman: his birth, his education, and his early working experience. Once Raman was travelling on the Medatrian Sea, and he started to wonder why the sea was blue in colour. Later, he will work on theoretical physics and light. 

Kumar S.S, BGS PU College Principal, Instead of importing to other countries, we should give something to our country, he hoped that science students should become scientists. 

To pay tribute to CV Raman, February 28, the day of the discovery of the Raman effect, is celebrated as National Science Day in India from 1987.

National Science Day

From the Science Forum, all disciplines in Science Departments celebrated a National Science Day on February 28,  2023 to promote the discovery of science. The resource person Dr Niranjan N S, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, GFGWC, Holenarasipura. He explained the Raman effect effectively. He teaches us about the early life of C.V. Raman: his birth, his education, and his early working experience. Once Raman was travelling on the Medatrian Sea, and he started to wonder why the sea was blue in colour. Later, he will work on theoretical physics and light. He has written an article about his research on why the sky and sea reflect blue, and the article was published in the Nature Journal. In 1922 he published his work on the “Molecular Diffraction of Light”, the first of a series of investigations with his collaborators which ultimately led to his discovery, on the 28th of February, 1928, of the radiation effect which bears his name (“A new radiation”, Indian J. Phys., 2 (1928) 387), and which gained him the 1930 Nobel Prize in Physics.

ಸಿ.ವಿ.ರಾಮನ್ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಗೌರವ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಲು, ಫೆಬ್ರವರಿ 28, ರಾಮನ್ ಪರಿಣಾಮದ ಆವಿಷ್ಕಾರದ ನೆನಪಿಗಾಗಿ  1987 ರಿಂದ ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ದಿನವನ್ನಾಗಿ ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.

ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ನಿರೂಪಕಿ ಅರ್ಪಿತಾ ಎಚ್.ಜೆ ಅತಿಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಆತ್ಮೀಯವಾಗಿ ಸ್ವಾಗತಿಸಿದರು. ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲರಾದ ಡಾ.ಎಂ.ಕೆ. ಮಂಜುನಾಥ್ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಉಸ್ತುವಾರಿ ವಹಿಸಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು. ಪ್ರಾಣಿಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ ವಿಭಾಗದ ಸಹಾಯಕ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕಿ ಡಾ. ನಿರುಪಮಾ ಎಮ್,  ಔಪಚಾರಿಕವಾಗಿ ಧನ್ಯವಾದ ಅರ್ಪಿಸಿದರು. ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಕವಿತ ಜೆ.ಎನ್. ಗ್ರಂಥಪಾಲಕರು ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ನಿರೂಪಿಸಿದರು ಮತ್ತು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದರು.
