Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat – Walk for Heritage, Health and a Drug-Free Youth

The NSS Units of Sri Adichunchanagiri First Grade College, Channarayapatna, organised a “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat – Walk for Heritage, Health and a Drug-Free Youth” to create awareness among students about the harmful effects of substance abuse and to promote healthy habits, physical fitness and a responsible lifestyle.

Dr. Dharanesh, Administrative Officer, Government Hospital, Channarayapatna, was the Chief Guest of the programme. Addressing the students during the morning assembly, he highlighted the harmful effects of drug and substance abuse and urged the youth to stay away from drugs and addictions. He emphasised the important role of young people in building a healthy, disciplined and developed nation.

Following the awareness programme, Dr. Dharanesh and Dr. M. K. Manjunatha, Principal, Sri Adichunchanagiri First Grade College, flagged off the Walk for Heritage and Health. Around 100 students and NSS volunteers actively participated in the walk.

The walk commenced from the college and proceeded through Navodaya Circle, Police Station Circle, Anjaneya Temple, Government Hospital and Mysore Circle, before returning to the college. The walk promoted the message of a drug-free youth, healthy lifestyle, physical fitness and respect for local heritage.

The programme was coordinated by Mr. Bhaskara J., NSS Unit-II Officer, and Dr. Nagaraja N.T., NSS Unit-I Officer. The active participation of students and volunteers made the awareness walk meaningful and impactful. After the completion of the walk, food was provided to the participating volunteers as a gesture of appreciation for their active involvement.

The programme successfully conveyed the message “Say No to Drugs, Stay Healthy and Build a Developed India”, encouraging students to become responsible and health-conscious citizens.

NSS Day Celebration – 2026

 The National Service Scheme (NSS) Units of Sri Adichunchanagiri First Grade College, Channarayapatna, organised NSS Day on 24th September 2026 at the college. The programme was organised to commemorate NSS Day and to create awareness among students about the importance of social service, community participation, and responsible citizenship.

Mr. Bhaskara J., NSS Unit-II Coordinator, welcomed the gathering and extended a warm welcome to the Principal, NSS coordinators, faculty members, and students. He briefly highlighted the significance of NSS Day and the role of NSS volunteers in promoting social responsibility and community service.

The programme was presided over by Dr. M. K. Manjunatha, Principal, Sri Adichunchanagiri First Grade College. In his presidential address, he highlighted the importance of NSS in developing a sense of social responsibility, discipline, leadership, and service-mindedness among students. He encouraged students to actively participate in community-orientated activities and contribute positively to society.

Dr. N. T. Nagaraja, NSS Unit-I Coordinator, addressed the gathering and spoke about the objectives of NSS and the importance of student participation in social service activities. He encouraged the volunteers to uphold the spirit of “Not Me But You” and actively contribute to the welfare of society.

The programme provided an opportunity for students to understand the values of service, cooperation, leadership, and social responsibility. The celebration concluded with a renewed commitment among NSS volunteers to participate actively in various social service and community development activities.

Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan – Public Awareness Jatha and Human Chain

 The NSS Units of Sri Adichunchanagiri First Grade College, Channarayapatna, in collaboration with the Youth Red Cross (YRC) Unit, and NCC Unit organized a Public Awareness Jatha and Human Chain as part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan on 21st September 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in Channarayapatna city.

The programme aimed to create awareness among the public, particularly youth, about the harmful effects of drug and substance abuse and to promote a healthy and drug-free society. NSS and YRC volunteers actively participated in the awareness campaign by carrying placards, raising awareness slogans, and conveying messages on the importance of staying away from addictive substances.

The volunteers took part in the Jatha through the main areas of Channarayapatna city and later formed a human chain to spread the message of a drug-free society. The programme witnessed active participation from students and volunteers, who demonstrated their commitment towards creating a healthier and safer community.

The initiative served as an effective platform for sensitising the public about the consequences of substance abuse and encouraging collective responsibility in building a Nasha Mukt Bharat.

Certificate Distribution Ceremony – State-Level Gandhian Values Camp 2026

 The NSS Unit-II of Sri Adichunchanagiri First Grade College participated in the State-Level Gandhian Values Camp – 2026, held from 5th September 2026 to 11th September 2026 at Government First Grade College, Didaga, Channarayapatna, for a period of seven days. A total of 12 NSS volunteers, comprising 5 women and 7 men, participated in the camp under the guidance of Mr. Bhaskara J., NSS Officer, Unit-II.

On 17th September 2026, during the morning prayer assembly, certificates were distributed to the participating NSS volunteers by the Principal, recognising their active participation and contribution to the camp. The ceremony encouraged students to uphold Gandhian values, social responsibility, and community service.

State-Level Gandhian Values Camp – 2026

 The NSS Unit-II of Sri Adichunchanagiri First Grade College participated in the State-Level Gandhian Values Camp held from 5th September 2026 to 11th September 2026 at Government High Schoola and Pre-University College, Didaga, Channarayapatna, for a period of seven days.

A total of 12 NSS volunteers, comprising 5 women and 7 men, participated in the camp under the guidance of Mr. Bhaskara J., NSS Officer, Unit-II.

As part of the camp activities, the NSS volunteers actively participated in various community service and cleanliness activities. They undertook the cleaning of the 1,000-year-old Ishwara Temple, including the surrounding Kola, contributing to the preservation and maintenance of the historical and cultural heritage site. The volunteers also visited Sri Kshetra Kabbali Temple and participated in service-oriented activities.

The volunteers further carried out painting and maintenance work at the Government High School and Government Pre-University College, contributing to the improvement of the educational environment. These activities provided students with practical experience in community service and strengthened their sense of social responsibility.

The camp focused on Gandhian values, cleanliness, community service, self-discipline, social responsibility, heritage conservation, and service to society. The participation helped the NSS volunteers develop teamwork, leadership, cooperation, and a spirit of voluntary service, in keeping with the ideals of NSS and Gandhian philosophy.

NSS Clean & Green Campus Initiative

The NSS Unit organized the “NSS Clean & Green Campus Initiative” on 25.08.2026 for the NSS volunteers of the college. As part of the daily cleanliness activity, the NSS volunteers actively participated in cleaning and maintaining the Botanical Garden of the College. The volunteers removed dry leaves, weeds, and other waste materials from the garden and helped maintain a clean and healthy environment on the campus.

The activity aimed to create awareness among students about the importance of cleanliness, environmental protection, and maintaining a green and healthy campus. The programme also encouraged NSS volunteers to develop a sense of social responsibility and active participation in community and environmental service activities.
