State-Level pioneering and Estimation Training Course for unit leaders

From April 25th to 28th, 2025, the Karnataka State Bharat Scouts and Guides organized a State-Level Pioneering and Estimation Training Course for Unit Leaders at the Dr. Annie Besant Scouts and Guides State Training Camp in Doddaballapura Taluk, Bangalore District. The event was inaugurated by the State Chief Organizing Commissioner, Mr. P.G.R. Sindhia, along with the District Chief Organizing Commissioner.

Four Rovers and two Rangers from our college enthusiastically participated in this four-day training camp, engaging wholeheartedly in all the activities organized. They stayed in tent accommodations and received comprehensive training in various aspects of Scouting and Guiding, including its history, motto, vision, mission, signs of salute, prayer song, flag song, types of knots, and gadget-making for tent setups. Additionally, they developed essential leadership skills, making the camp a truly enriching and memorable experience.

Government Hospital Visit

On 26-03-2025, Dr. Praveen Kumar S from the Department of Sociology accompanied final-year B.A. Sociology students on a visit to Government Hospital Channarayapatna. This visit was organized as part of the NEP UG syllabus of the University of Mysore, which includes topics such as the Sociology of Health, the relationship between doctors, nurses, paramedical staff, and patients, as well as the system of medicine, biomedicine, and AYUSH. During the visit, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Mahesh guided the students on the dynamics of the doctor-nurse-paramedical staff-patient relationship and provided insights into both biomedicine and AYUSH. Additionally, Hospital Technician Mr. Gurumurthy led the students through various hospital blocks, explaining the range of services offered and detailing the free healthcare facilities provided by the government to the public. Nursing Superintendent Padmamma and Nursing staff member Girija were also present.

Pond Ecosystem Visit

The Department of Zoology at SAFG College successfully organized an educational visit to the Raghavendra Swamy Temple Pond on March 25, 2025 by 1.30 and come back around 3.30. The visit aimed to provide students with hands-on experience in studying aquatic biodiversity, ecological interactions, and water quality assessment, which are essential components of their curriculum.During the visit, students actively engaged in various activities, including:

  • Identification and classification of aquatic flora and fauna.
  • Observation of ecological interactions within the pond ecosystem.
  • Collection and analysis of water samples to assess quality parameters such as pH, dissolved oxygen, and turbidity.
Discussion on the impact of human activities and environmental changes on aquatic biodiversity.

The visit provided students with valuable insights into real-world ecological studies, reinforcing their classroom learning. They gained practical experience in field research techniques and developed a deeper appreciation for aquatic ecosystems and conservation efforts.
