Building Humanitarian Spirit through Red Cross Orientation & Geneva Convention Day

Sri Adichunchanagiri First Grade College, Channarayapatna, in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society (Taluk Unit), organized an inspiring “Building Humanitarian Spirit through Red Cross Orientation & Geneva Convention Day” program in the college seminar hall.

The event commenced at 11:00 AM with a prayer by Miss Bhavana, III B.Sc., followed by a warm welcome from Mr. Bhaskara J., member of the Youth Red Cross.

In a highly motivating session, Mr. Shankarappa G.S., Tahsildar, shared valuable insights into UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) and KPAS (Karnataka Public Administrative Service) examinations, emphasizing the pathways to becoming IAS, KAS, and IPS,

He highlighted:

  • The importance of determination, consistent preparation, and time management

  • The Career scope and responsibilities of top administrative positions like Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Karnataka Administrative Service (KAS)

  • Encouragement for students to set high goals and prepare from an early stage

His words served as both an informative guide and a motivational push for students aspiring to join the nation’s civil services.

Mr. Bharath Kumar H.G., Chairman, shared the early history of the Youth Red Cross Unit and the significance of Geneva Convention Day. He explained how the Red Cross movement has evolved over time, its role in humanitarian aid, and why understanding the Geneva Conventions is essential for young people. His speech emphasized the values of compassion, volunteerism, and global responsibility, encouraging students to carry forward the spirit of humanitarian service in their lives.

Dr. M.K. Manjunatha, Principal of SAFG College, delivered the presidential address, praising the collaborative effort of the Youth Red Cross and the Indian Red Cross Society in fostering humanitarian values among students.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Kavitha J.N., Librarian, SAFG College, followed by smooth anchoring from Mr. Siddaraju, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science. Dr. Nirupama M., Convener of the Youth Red Cross, served as the organizing secretary.

The program left the students enriched—not only with knowledge of humanitarian service but also with a deeper understanding of civil service opportunities awaiting them.

Environment Day Rally-2025

 To mark World Environment Day, a rally was organized on 5th June 2025 with the objective of spreading awareness about environmental protection and sustainable living. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, and community members.

Students wore green outfits to symbolize their support for environmental causes, and  emphasized key environmental themes such as reducing plastic use, conserving water, planting trees, and fighting climate change.

The rally was a great success, leaving a positive impact on the participants and the local community.







Environment Day Awareness Talk

 To mark the occasion of World Environment Day 2025, Sri Adichunchanagiri First Grade College organized an awareness program focused on the theme “End Plastic Pollution”. The event aimed to sensitize students and staff about the urgent need to reduce plastic usage and adopt sustainable alternatives.

The chief guest for the occasion was Mr. C.N. Ashok, President of Makkala Saayithya Parisath, Channarayapatna, who delivered an insightful speech on the impact of plastic pollution and the role of youth in combating environmental degradation.

The event was presided over by Dr. M.K. Manjunatha, Principal of SAFG College, who highlighted the importance of integrating eco-consciousness into education.

The program was effectively coordinated by Dr. Nirupama M, Youth Red Cross and Red Ribbon Coordinator, and witnessed active participation from all teaching and non-teaching staff, along with the student body.

Blood Donation Camp

 A Blood Donation Camp was successfully organized by Youth Red Cross and Red Ribbon unit at SAFG College, CRP on 29th May 2025, in collaboration with the Government Hospital, Channarayapatna, and the Lions Club. The event was a significant step toward promoting social responsibility, health awareness, and humanitarian service among students and staff.

The camp commenced at 11 AM with a brief inaugural ceremony. Mr. Bhasker J, Convener of NSS Unit, SAFG College welcomed the gathering and Dr. Mahesh V, Admistrative, Medical Officer inaugurated the event and emphasized the importance of blood donation. He stated, "Donating blood is a noble deed and everyone should come forward for this humanitarian act." Dignitaries from the Government Hospital and Lions Club addressed the students and appreciated the college’s active involvement in community welfare activities. Dr. Nagalakshmi, blood bank unit Hassan spoke about the growing need for blood donations. He explained that one unit of blood can save three to four lives and highlighted the continuous requirement for blood in medical emergencies. A team of doctors, nurses, and support staff from the Government Hospital, Channarayapatna, along with volunteers from the Lions Club, facilitated the blood collection process. The college staff and student volunteers ensured smooth coordination, proper registration, and guidance for donors throughout the camp. There were 80 volunteers, including students and faculty members and Principal enthusiastically participated in the camp. A total of 40 units of blood were successfully collected and safely stored by the medical team. Donors were provided with refreshments and certificates of appreciation for their noble contribution.

The camp concluded at 2:00 PM and was marked as a grand success. It not only contributed to saving lives but also inspired a spirit of service and compassion among the youth. SAFG College expresses heartfelt gratitude to the Government Hospital team and the Lions Club for their valuable support and partnership in this noble cause.

Wellness for All: A Health Awareness Initiative

Youth Red cross and Red Ribbon Unit of SAFG College organized a special lecture programme on Wellness for All: A Health Awareness Initiative on 14th May 2025 at 10.30 am to create awareness among the students about health.

The event commenced at 10:30 AM with a warm welcome address by Dr. Nirupama M followed by a brief introduction to the guest speaker, Dr. Mahesh V, Administrative Medical Officers a well-known health and wellness expert with years of experience in public health education.Dr. Mahesh delivered a comprehensive and engaging lecture covering a wide range of health-related topics including:

·         Balanced Diet and Nutrition

·         Importance of Regular Exercise

·         Mental Health and Stress Management

·         Hygiene and Personal Care

·         Awareness on Communicable Diseases

·         Preventive Health Measures

The speaker used real-life examples, interactive questions, and visual aids to make the session informative and relatable for the student audience. He also encouraged students to adopt healthy habits and emphasized the importance of early health check-ups, regular hydration, adequate sleep, and mental well-being.

After that Dr. Manjunath M. K, the principal, emphasised the significance of health as the foundation for a successful and fulfilling life. He noted that while academic achievement is important, it should never come at the cost of physical and mental well-being. The Principal encouraged students to adopt healthy habits, focus on preventive care, and maintain a balanced lifestyle in the face of modern challenges such as stress, poor diet, and sedentary routines. The talk concluded with a heartfelt vote of encouragement to all participants, expressing hope that the session by Dr. Mahesh would inspire positive lifestyle changes among the students.
