Field visit to Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Science (AIMS), Hospital & Research Centre, Botany

With the approval from the Dean of the Institute, Department of Botany organized a field visit to Adichunchanagiri Medical Science, Hospital and Research Center on April 24, 2024, as per BSC (Botany) syllabus pattern of Sixth Semester NEP Scheme.At 11:30 a.m., representatives from all science departments as well as final B. Sc. students arrived at the institution with the goal of educating everyone about bioinstrumentation techniques and igniting enthusiasm in research.

First we visited cancer research lab where we met Dr. Shobith Rangappa, Dean, AIMS Research Centre, he provided a faculty for explain us each and every instrumentation technique. In the cancer laboratory, they explained about the methodologies and applications of different techniques like PCR, Laminar air flow, electrophoresis, western blotting and Northern blotting technique, isolation of components from plants and so on.

Then we visit the biotechnology laboratory in that lab students observed related instruments like Laminar air flow, Autoclave, Centrifuge, chromatography machine, water bath etc. Here we get to know about Plant tissue culture technique and students learned about how tissue media was prepared and also we gained some knowledge about Biotechnology lab.

Biotechnology is widely used in different fields such as medicine, agriculture, food processing, etc. to produce useful products for human benefits by gene therapy, insulin production and molecular diagnosis.

After that, we visited to anatomical Museum where we can observe the physiological specimens and pathological conditions of different organs such as kidney, liver, brain and different stages of foetal development and also observe the dead bodies of humans and endoskeletons etc. Anatomy and Physiology education help in understanding the health status of patients. It helps in assessing, evaluating, diagnosing and tracking a patient's health. The theories of this subject assist in comprehending the overall condition of the human body.

Finally we reached Natural Science Department to observe the different laboratories then we come back to our campus by 3.30 pm with enormous knowledge. There are12 students benefitted by this visit.

Field Visit to Campus and Botanical Garden

On Monday, November 20, 2023, the botany department led a group of students on a field visit to the campus and botanical garden. To the understanding of medicinal plant taxonomy. Twelve students took part in the activity.  Wild and ornamental plants, including Vinca, Indian Gooseberry, Lemmon Grace, Amrutha Bali, and others, were observed by us and learned about by the students.   

Tribute to M.S. Swaminathan

 From the Botany department we organized tribute to M.S Swaminathan on September 30th,2023 with the invocation by Mr. Apoorva M S First year BSc. student the programme is commenced Smt. Sowmya C.V, Asst. Professor of Botany welcome the guests and gave introductory speech about the M S Swaminathan .M.S.Swaminathan was well known as father of green revolution in India. He was born on 7 August 1925 on Kumbakonam, Madras presidency. He gave huge contribution to the society by introducing High yielding varieties of Wheat and Rice in India. He published 254 Scientific papers in the field of crop improvements. Swaminathan awarded first World Food Prize in 1987. His contribution to India will always be etched in golden letters . Recently he passes away on 29 september 2023 . Sanjay.B and Shwetha B.S Final year B Sc Students, both have delivered Wonderful speech by M.S Swaminathan. The Resource person Vijay kumar K.S Dept. of Economics he gave helpful information to the students. Dr Manjunath M.K who addressed the Gathering and he spoke about M S Swaminathan. The programme was concluded with the vote of thanks by Monika Final year B Sc Student and anchoring by Shubha S. L III B.sc.

Experimental Learning Trip to Dandeli

The department of Botany conducted a Study tour has been as per practical syllabus to Dandeli with the principal permission. we started our journey to Dandeli on 9.2.2023 at 12.15 am from college campus via Davangere to Dandeli.  We reached Dandeli at 10.15 am. After reaching our destination get refreshed. After breakfast we went to nursery & research station while moving we have observed many wild plants, type of vegetation & Then back to resort .In the evening we studied plants surrounding the resort. Early in the morning 11.2.2023 we left resort to view spot & range forest office. We have observed evergreen moist forest studied wild plants like teak, mathi, nandi, bixa., glyrisidia etc. Then return back to CR.Patna. on the way we had an opportunity to visit sirsi Marikmbe .After receiving prasadam we left Sirsi .Then we visited Thavarekoppa to see wild animals. After that we started moving back to CR.Patna & reached our college campus at 1.00.am

ಸಸ್ಯಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ ವಿಭಾಗವು ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲರ ಅನುಮತಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ದಾಂಡೇಲಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಾಯೋಗಿಕ ಪಠ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಂತೆ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಪ್ರವಾಸವನ್ನು ನಡೆಸಿತು. 9.2.2023 ರಂದು 12.15 ಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾಲೇಜು ಆವರಣದಿಂದ ದಾವಣಗೆರೆ ಮೂಲಕ ದಾಂಡೇಲಿಗೆ ದಾಂಡೇಲಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಯಾಣ ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದೆವು. 10.15ಕ್ಕೆ ದಾಂಡೇಲಿ ತಲುಪಿದೆವು. ನಮ್ಮ ಗಮ್ಯಸ್ಥಾನವನ್ನು ತಲುಪಿದ ನಂತರ ರಿಫ್ರೆಶ್ ಪಡೆಯಿರಿ. ಬೆಳಗಿನ ಉಪಾಹಾರದ ನಂತರ ನಾವು ನರ್ಸರಿ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಶೋಧನಾ ಕೇಂದ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದೆವು, ಚಲಿಸುವಾಗ ನಾವು ಅನೇಕ ಕಾಡು ಸಸ್ಯಗಳು, ಸಸ್ಯವರ್ಗದ ಪ್ರಕಾರಗಳನ್ನು ಗಮನಿಸಿದ್ದೇವೆ ಮತ್ತು ನಂತರ ರೆಸಾರ್ಟ್‌ಗೆ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಸಂಜೆ ನಾವು ರೆಸಾರ್ಟ್ ಸುತ್ತಮುತ್ತಲಿನ ಸಸ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ. 11.2.2023 ರ ಮುಂಜಾನೆ ನಾವು ಸ್ಪಾಟ್ ಮತ್ತು ರೇಂಜ್ ಫಾರೆಸ್ಟ್ ಆಫೀಸ್ ವೀಕ್ಷಿಸಲು ರೆಸಾರ್ಟ್‌ನಿಂದ ಹೊರಟೆವು. ತೇಗ, ಮತ್ತಿ, ನಂದಿ, ಬಿಕ್ಸಾ., ಗ್ಲಿರಿಸಿಡಿಯಾ ಮುಂತಾದ ಕಾಡು ಸಸ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಮಾಡಿದ ನಿತ್ಯಹರಿದ್ವರ್ಣ ತೇವಾಂಶವುಳ್ಳ ಅರಣ್ಯವನ್ನು ನಾವು ಗಮನಿಸಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ನಂತರ CR.Patna ಗೆ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿ. ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶಿರಸಿ ಮಾರಿಕಾಂಬೆಯ ದರ್ಶನಕ್ಕೆ ಅವಕಾಶ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿತು.ಪ್ರಸಾದ ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಿ ಶಿರಸಿಯಿಂದ ಹೊರಟೆವು.ನಂತರ ಕಾಡುಪ್ರಾಣಿಗಳನ್ನು ನೋಡಲು ತಾವರೆಕೊಪ್ಪಕ್ಕೆ ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡಿದ್ದೆವು. ಅದರ ನಂತರ ನಾವು CR.Patna ಗೆ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಲು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿದೆವು ಮತ್ತು ನಮ್ಮ ಕಾಲೇಜು ಕ್ಯಾಂಪಸ್ ಅನ್ನು 1.00.00 ಗಂಟೆಗೆ ತಲುಪಿದೆವು
