On April 23, 2024, the Library and Information Centre, in collaboration with the IQAC, observed World Book Day. A Special Lecture was organized as part of World Book Day. Tarun Gowda, III BA student, opened the programme with the invocation of Shardha Song. After the formal welcome speech given by Mrs. Kavitha J.N., Librarian and Convener of the Programme offered watered the plants as the program's inaugural event by the Resource Person and the Principle, as well as offered by the other faculty members.
Resource Person Prof. Dr. Chandrappa, Playwright, Folklorist and Former Principal, SAFG, College, C.R. Patna. He talked to the students about the importance of books and the relevance of reading in life. He added that if students turn into the books and libraries, everything will turn out well in the future, stated that knowledge is enlightening when you are Memorizing the book is knowledge.
He stated that knowledge was stored in palm trees in ancient times, and after that, book publishing began. Asserted that due to the progress in education, there should be no confusion between Kannada and English in learning.
Expressed dissatisfaction with the large scale of book publishing in Kannada, but the number of reader is not increasing.
Later, Dr. M.K. Manjunath, Principal, SAFG College delivered the presidential talk. Reading ethical stories can instill love, trust, equality, mercy, compassion, and harmony, according to him. Books lead us down the path of knowledge.
Dr. Praveen Kumar S., the HoD of Sociology, gave the official Vote of Thanks at the conclusion of the event, and Mr. Lokesh G.S., HoD of Economics acted as the Anchor of the Programme.
