On November 6, 2024, the Department of Zoology requested Principal Dr. Manjunath M. K. and Dr. Nirupama M., Head of Zoology with his consent, a trip was planned to take all V semester students and faculty to Bannerghatta Biological Park in Bangalore. The Zoology Department of SAFG College organized an educational trip to Bannerghatta Biological Park, which is a prominent destination for biodiversity and conservation education. The aim of the trip was to provide students with an experiential understanding of various animal species, their habitats, and conservation efforts to protect endangered species. This visit also aligned with our curriculum objectives of fostering awareness of ecological relationships and the importance of biodiversity.
At around 6.30 am, we departed
from our college and arrived at Bangalore Bannerghatta Biological Park at 10:30 am by bus.
We explored the following sections of the park: The safari provided a
chance to observe animals in semi-wild conditions. We saw tigers, lions, bears,
and other native species in spacious enclosures designed to mimic their natural
habitats. Students observed animal behavior, social structures, and
adaptations. The reptile house was an informative stop where we
encountered various reptiles, including snakes, lizards, and turtles. Park
guides explained the importance of reptiles in maintaining ecological balance
and educated us on their feeding and breeding habits.
This
educational trip to Bannerghatta Biological Park was a rewarding experience
that helped bridge theoretical knowledge with practical insights. The students
gained a better appreciation of biodiversity, ecology, and the importance of
conservation. This trip was not only educational but also inspired a sense of
responsibility toward preserving our natural heritage. Then by seven o'clock at
night, we arrived at the college campus safely.
