Poster Presentation Programme: World AIDS Day

 In observance of World AIDS Day 2024, Dr. Nirupama M, Convener of Youth Red Cross and Red Ribbon Unit of SAFG College organized a Poster Presentation Programme on December 3, 2024. The event aimed to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, emphasizing prevention strategies and its profound impact on society.

The programme was conducted in the Ground Floor Corridor from 12.30 PM to 2:00 PM and saw enthusiastic participation from students across various departments. Participants prepared and showcased creative posters that highlighted critical aspects of HIV/AIDS, including modes of transmission, preventive measures, myths versus facts, and the importance of empathy towards those affected.

The event was inaugurated by the jury members: Mrs. Anitha,Block Health Officer, Government Hospital Channarayapatna, Mrs. Soundarya, Biology lecturer, BGS College and Mrs. Arpitha H J, in the presence of Dr Manjunatha M K, Principal, SAFG College and Mr. Kumar C Principal, BGS PU College. In their opening remarks, they applauded the efforts of the participants and emphasized the need for youth involvement in spreading awareness about such critical health issues.

Over 35 students participated in the poster presentation, bringing innovative ideas and impactful messages to the forefront. The posters were evaluated by the jury based on creativity, clarity of message, and social relevance. The event also included an interactive session, where students discussed their work and answered questions posed by peers and faculty.

The programme concluded with a short address by the jury, who commended the participants for their efforts and announced the winners. Then Health Officer Mrs. Anitha concluded the talk with a motivational message emphasizing the youth's role in spreading awareness and combating stigma. The session successfully met its objectives and provided valuable knowledge to the participants. Cash awards and certificates were given to the top three posters. First prize goes to Mrs Parvathi, II BSc student, II Prize goes to Ms Lekhan H K and Harhitha D S I B Sc students and III Prize goes to Bhavana and Darshan V P II B Sc students.The Poster Presentation Programme not only fostered awareness but also inspired the student community to take proactive steps in combating the stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS. It was a resounding success in promoting knowledge, compassion, and a collective commitment to a healthier society.
