Empowering Student Progression: Skill Development Across Science, Arts, and Commerce

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) organised a special event aimed at promoting skill development among students. The event focussed on the importance of skill acquisition across various disciplines, including Science, Arts, and Commerce. The event begun with an invocation song by Miss Apoorva, setting a serene and inspiring tone for the session. The welcome speech delivered by Lavanya (Ist semester), who warmly welcome the participants. In the keynote address, Dr. B. N. Chandrashekar, the IQAC Coordinator, emphasized the significance of skill development for students. He explained that acquiring practical skills is essential for academic and professional growth. He also highlighted the role of faculty members in integrating skill-based subjects into the curriculum. Dr. Chandrashekar pointed out that it is crucial for educators to provide students with the right opportunities to develop these skills, as they will be instrumental in their future careers.

Following the keynote, Dr. M.K. Manjunatha, the Principal of the college, addressed the students. He urged them to take full advantage of skill development programmes, stressing how these programmes can help students build a strong foundation for their careers. He encouraged students to participate actively in these initiatives to brighten their future prospects.

The lecture, titled "Empowering Student Progression: Skill Development Across Science, Arts, and Commerce", was delivered by Dr. Niranjan R.S., Associate Professor in the Department of Physics. Dr. Niranjan guided students in making informed decisions regarding which skill development programmes to pursue, helping them to enhance their academic and professional abilities. He also guided faculty on selecting and delivering soft skills effectively for empowering student progression across Science, Arts, and Commerce. His session emphasized integrating relevant skills into curriculum design, fostering student growth, and ensuring holistic development through strategic teaching approaches.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Nirupama. M, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, who expressed gratitude to the speakers, participants, and all those involved in organizing the session. The entire programme was anchored by Mrs. J.N. Kavitha, Librarian, who ensured the smooth flow of the event.

This event presents an excellent opportunity for students to gain valuable insights into skill development, which will ultimately support their growth in their chosen fields. Faculty members were encouraged to introduce new certificate courses under the skill development programme and motivate their students to attend and actively participate in the enriching certificate courses.
