The
Department of Zoology organized an orientation Campus Tour for the
newly admitted I B.Sc. CBZ (Chemistry, Botany, Zoology) students on 21st
July 2025 at 11:00 AM. The main objective of this tour was to
familiarise the fresher with the college environment, infrastructure, and
departmental facilities, thereby helping them transition smoothly into their
academic journey.
The
tour began at the Zoology Department, where Dr.
Nirupama M, Head of the Department, welcomed the students and gave a
brief introduction about the department’s history, achievements, and academic
goals and also about different committees like YRC, NSS, NCC and Scouts and
Guides, etc. Students were then guided to various important locations on the
campus, including:

Library – Introduction to the
resources and how to access reference books and journals.

Laboratories – A walkthrough of
the Zoology lab showcasing specimens, equipment, and safety instructions.
·
Botany and Chemistry Departments
– Brief interaction with faculty and a tour of respective labs.
·
Administrative Offices –
Information about student services and support.
·
Seminar Hall and Classrooms –
Overview of academic spaces and upcoming student programs.
·
Campus Garden and Biodiversity Corners
– Emphasising the ecological richness of the campus.
Faculty
members actively participated in guiding and assisting the fresher throughout
the tour. The students expressed enthusiasm and appreciation for the
initiative, which helped them feel comfortable and connected with the campus
and their peers. The campus tour served as an effective bridge for freshers to
understand the academic atmosphere, resources, and departmental support system.
It created a welcoming environment and encouraged student engagement from the
beginning of the academic year.
