On 30th July 2025, the Department of Zoology organized an educational visit for final year students to enhance their practical knowledge in zoological sciences. The visit commenced at 9:00 AM, under the guidance and coordination of Dr. Nirupama M and Radhamma K M. The primary aim was to enhance student knowledge about avian biodiversity, conservation practices, and bird taxidermy techniques. This visit was part of the department’s effort to provide experiential learning outside the classroom. The inaugural session commenced at 11:30 AM in the presence of distinguished guests and officials. Inauguration By Shri C.N. Manjunath, MLA, Sakaleshpur, and B.N. Vedamurthy, Camp Director. Chief Guests and Speakers: Included IFS officers, forest rangers, wildlife activists, education officers, and Red Cross officials.

First-Year Library Induction

The Library and Information Centre of Sri Adichunchanagiri First Grade College organized a First-Year Library Induction Programme to welcome and guide the new batch of students in effectively using the library resources.

The programme was conducted on 21st July 2025 for B.A. and B.Sc. students, and on 26th July 2025 for B.Com. students, at the college library. All first-year students from these streams actively participated in the induction session.

The main objective of the programme was to introduce students to the library's facilities, services, rules, and digital resources. The session included a walkthrough of the library layout, explanation of the membership process, and a demonstration of how to access the library catalogue and e-resources. Students were also briefed on the importance of reading and the role of the library in academic success. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A round, where students clarified their doubts. The induction programme was well-received, and it laid a strong foundation for the students to utilize the library effectively throughout their academic journey.

Campus Tour for I B.Sc. CBZ Fresher

The Department of Zoology organized an orientation Campus Tour for the newly admitted I B.Sc. CBZ (Chemistry, Botany, Zoology) students on 21st July 2025 at 11:00 AM. The main objective of this tour was to familiarise the fresher with the college environment, infrastructure, and departmental facilities, thereby helping them transition smoothly into their academic journey.

The tour began at the Zoology Department, where Dr. Nirupama M, Head of the Department, welcomed the students and gave a brief introduction about the department’s history, achievements, and academic goals and also about different committees like YRC, NSS, NCC and Scouts and Guides, etc. Students were then guided to various important locations on the campus, including:

·         Library – Introduction to the resources and how to access reference books and journals.

·         Laboratories – A walkthrough of the Zoology lab showcasing specimens, equipment, and safety instructions.

·         Botany and Chemistry Departments – Brief interaction with faculty and a tour of respective labs.

·         Administrative Offices – Information about student services and support.

·         Seminar Hall and Classrooms – Overview of academic spaces and upcoming student programs.

·         Campus Garden and Biodiversity Corners – Emphasising the ecological richness of the campus.

Faculty members actively participated in guiding and assisting the fresher throughout the tour. The students expressed enthusiasm and appreciation for the initiative, which helped them feel comfortable and connected with the campus and their peers. The campus tour served as an effective bridge for freshers to understand the academic atmosphere, resources, and departmental support system. It created a welcoming environment and encouraged student engagement from the beginning of the academic year.
