On Saturday, September 09, 2023, Youth Red Cross and Red Ribbon Unit, SAFG College, Channarayapatna was organized “World First Aid Day” to raise awareness among students about the importance of first aid. The programme was commenced and anchoring by Mr. Chetan, Department of Geography and invocation by Ms. Apoorva M S, 1st B. Sc., student followed with the welcome speech by Mr. Bhaskara J, Physical Education Director. Inauguration was done by Chief Guests by watering plant and inaugural talk was delivered by Dr.V. Mahesh, Administrative Health Officer, Government Hospital,Channarayapatana. The program's host, Dr. Nirupama M., Convenor of Youth Red Cross Unit, HOD of Zoology, introduced Resource Person Dr. Sreeranga N, Orthopedic Surgeon, HIMS, Hassan, to the students and faculties.
Dr. Sreeranga N, an orthopaedic surgeon at HIMS, Hassan, made the remarks for the chief guest. He spoke about the past, dire conditions, statistics of casualties caused by inadequate first aid training and ways to save them. He demonstrated the first actions we took in emergency scenarios, such as calling for aid, doing CPR, defibrillation, and resuscitation, etc. Then, SAFG College principal Dr. M.K. Manjunath addressed and oversaw the proceedings. A formal vote of thanks was given by Dr. Nagraja N T, Assistant Professor, and Department of Political Science.
