The Kannada Department and History Department arranged as Field Visit to the Inscription at Shravanabelagola, Shravanabelagola for educational reasons on Tuesday, December 19, 2023. The study excursion was attended by the Head of Department of Kannada Mrs. Niroosha M.R.;  Mr. Kishore, Assistant Professor of History,  as well as  first- and second year optional Kannada students and History Students.

Students discovered the autographs of the ancient Kannada poets Chavundaraya and Ranna.

Explaining the inscription to the students is Mr. Kishore.

The inscription, which is written in both Kannada and Kannada script, sheds light on how the language and writing evolved during that time.

"Rachamalla IV, a ruler of the Ganga dynasty, commissioned the inscription, which dates to the tenth century CE. It is engraved on the Tyagada Brahmadeva Pillar, a monolithic stone pillar at Shravanabelagola that is close to Chandragiri Hill and Hindragiri Hill. The Digambara Jain tradition is connected to the pillar"

It offers important historical details regarding Jainism, the Ganga dynasty, and Bhattaraka Charukeerthi's contributions to the Jain community.
