On Saturday, December 23, 2023, the Department of Geography hosted National Farmers Day at Prayer Assembly. Mr. Srikanta Dodderi, a resource person, District Farmers' Association said that the government never works for the people who farm; it always works for the corporate community. His belief that because there is no market for farmers, our economic growth is stagnant, his annoyance at the farmer's extremely low price and the fact that he does not receive his money back. Students were informed that the packs only included the maximum price—not the lowest price.
According to Dr. Chandrasekhara B.N., IQC Coordinator, the cost of crops is fixed in China and Japan, but it varies in our nation and farmers are not treated fairly.
The guest was welcomed to the programme by Mr. Siddaraju, an Assistant Professor in the department of Political Science, and the programme was anchored by Mr. Chethana D.S., an Assistant Professor in the department of Geography.
The department recognized Sumanth (U01GF22A0050) and Sindhu (U01GF21A0064), two of our college's BA (GS) students, for their efforts as farmers.
