Special lecture programme on ‘English for Employability’

 Department of English organised a special lecture programme on English for Employability ‘on 28-11-2024 at Seminar Hall. In the beginning the invocation song has been sung by Hemashree and team, I BSc. Soon after the invocation Mr.Ningaraju,Head Department of English welcomed the chief guest and the dignitaries on the stage. After that the programme has been inaugurated at 11AM, through watering plant as a symbol of growth of hopes and dreams in future.

 In his inaugural address the chief guest suggested to the students that in modern days the proficiency of English is often essential for career success, especially in international or multicultural environments. It involves not only mastering grammar and vocabulary but also understanding communication styles, professional terminology, and soft skills that help individuals effectively navigate the world of work.

In the presidential address Dr. M.K Manjunath, principal advised the students that Words and phrases that are common in everyday office environments, such as phrases for finding out career after the graduation therefore students must inculcate the hobbies of learning new words by reading newspapers.

Finally its concluded expressing vote of thanks by Narasimhamurthy P,assistant professor of commerce to the participants guests , faculty members, from various departments and students.

Health and Wellbeing of Adolescents

The Women Empowerment Cell and Women Sexual Harassment Prevention, in collaboration with IQAC  of SAFG College organized a thought-provoking session on "Health and Well-being of Adolescents" on 27th November 2024 at seminar hall. The event aimed to address the key health concerns and psychological challenges faced by adolescents, emphasizing the importance of early interventions and awareness.

The program began with a prayer song performed by Bhavana, II BSc. After that, the session commenced with a warm welcome extended to the Chief Guest, Dr. Ramesh Babu S, a renowned expert in Gynecology. The Principal, faculty members, and students of the college graced the occasion with their enthusiastic presence.

Dr. Ramesh Babu began by acknowledging the unique challenges adolescents face in today's fast-paced world; including stress, peer pressure, and the impact of digital media on mental and physical health. He addresses some of the challenges pertaining to menstruation. He also emphasised the significance of adolescent health and wellness, giving them the necessary information and abilities. The event was highly appreciated by both students and faculty, marking it as a significant step towards promoting adolescent health and well-being. This initiative reflects SAFG College’s commitment to holistic education, nurturing not only academic growth but also the overall well-being of its students.

The program was anchored by Mrs. Kavitha J N, Convener, Women Sexual Harassment Prevention Cell, and was presided over by Dr. Manjunath M K, Principal, SAFG College. Mr. Siddaraju, Assistant Professor in Political Science, then gave a vote of appreciation. Approximately 137 students utilise this program.

Speech competition on “Kannada Nadu Nudi”

Speech competition on ‘Kannada Nadu Nudi’ has been held by Alumni association in collaboration with department of Kannada on 23-11-2024. Initially convener of alumni association discussed with head of department of Kannada on the occasion of Kannada Rajyotsava to organize a programme and finalised the chief guest and fixed the date in which day programme to be organized.

It was planned to conduct an Inter college Taluk level speech competition inviting two students from each PU Colleges across the taluk. On the basis of the invitation which was sent by the institution, the participants have been registered priorly. There were 26 students have been registered from 12 colleges around the city. The chief guest and Jury have been welcomed by Mr. Siddaraju, assistant professor of political science. Dr. H.P. Shankar, chief guest of the programme addressed the participants in his inaugural speech and advised them to participate the competition whatever it may be. In his presidential address Dr.MK Manjunath, principal spoke about the importance of Kannada language .

Soon after the completion of stage programme formally, it was open for competitors to explore their oratory skill. They have been given 5-6 minutes timings to complete their content. The invited jury members observed the competitors and evaluated them on the basis of the parameters given by the organizer. At the end of the competition jury members Mrs. Manjula KM, consolidated and announced the list of winners.

Chief Guest and Jury members along with the head of the institution distributed prizes to the winners. K S Sinchana, BGS PU College Channarayapatna, grabbed 3000 cash, a medal and a certificate as first prize, the second (2000 cash a medal and a certificates)  and third prize(1000 cash a medal and a certificates) were secured by CM Nisha Jnanasagara Brigade college and GR Bhaskar,Govt.PU college (pete) channarayapatna respectively. Consolation prize consists 500 rupee cash, a certificate and a medal goes to the following students: Nayana,Times PUcollege,DMShreyes,Navodaya PU College,Janani,Brigade PU College,K Bindhu,BGS PU College.other participants have been given certificates and a medal.There were Naveen K, Jury member , Niroosh MR,Head,department of Kannada Dr.N.T Nagaraja,Head , department of political science and other faculty members participated.

Fresher’s Day and Talent Expo-2024

 The Kalasinchana Cultural Forum hosted a Fresher’s Day and Talent Expo-2024 for students on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Kuvempu Vedike. The program was inaugurated by all department Heads and Cultural Convener Mrs. Arpitha H J of the College.

The Talent Expo held at Sri Adichunchanagiri First Grade College Kalasinchana Cultural Forum provided an exciting opportunity for students to showcase their unique skills and passions in a vibrant and supportive environment. With participants spanning a wide range of disciplines, the event highlighted the depth of creativity, innovation, and talent that exists within the student body. The expo was open to all students and featured a variety of performances, exhibitions, and interactive displays. To provide a platform for students to display their extracurricular talents and interests. To promote cross-disciplinary collaboration and creative expression. To foster a sense of community within the college through shared experiences and performances. To recognize and celebrate the diverse skills and abilities of students beyond academic achievements.

Dance Performances: Diverse dance forms were featured, such as contemporary, hip-hop, classical, and folk dance.

Mr .Chanadan student of B.A  Stream gave the welcome speech.,Moulya S.K student of B.Sc stream  took the vote of thanks. Pooja and Amulya students of B.com stream anchors of this programme .
