World Book Day was organised by the Library and Information Centre on 23rd April 2025 at 10:00 AM in our institution. Originally scheduled to be held at Kuvempu Vedhike, the venue was shifted to the Library Reading Room as a precautionary measure in light of the tragic Kashmir Attack on 22nd April 2025.
The
program commenced with a prayer
by Mrs Bhavana, II B.Sc., followed by a welcome speech delivered by Mrs. Kavitha J.N., Librarian. In her address, she highlighted the importance of World Book Day,
explaining that the day is celebrated to promote reading, publishing, and copyright awareness across the globe. She
emphasized the role of books in shaping young minds and fostering lifelong
learning.
The
highlight of the event was a speech by Mr.
Devaraju M.S., Librarian at the Branch Library, Channarayapatna, who
served as the resource person
and shared insights on the value of books and libraries in the modern age.
The
event was presided over by our respected IQAC Coordinator B.N. Chandrashekar, whose address inspired students and staff
alike. Dr. Nirupama M., HoD &
Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, delivered the vote of thanks.
The
programme was smoothly anchored by Mr.
Siddaraju, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science.
The event
witnessed enthusiastic participation from both students and staff of SAFG College, Channarayapatna.
