The Botany and Geography Department collaborated with the Red Cross Unit and celebrated World Environmental Day on June 5th, 2025.
This day is celebrated for raising
awareness about our environment. Moreover, it aims to prevent damage to the
environment through human activities and protect the Earth. 5th June: World
Environment Day serves as a reminder for taking different steps and adopting
various ways to safeguard the environment.
The resource person Ravikiran, lecturer in
biology, Mandya, delivered a wonderful lecture on the importance of the environment,
how it relates to our daily life, why and how to preserve our environment, and
also said the theme of World Environment Day 2025 is “Beat Plastic Pollution”. The world produces over 430
million tonnes of plastic annually, with two-thirds being short-lived products
that soon become waste and enter the human food chain. As you all know, the environment is most precious for every living being. Without a healthy environment, we are nothing.
The event was presided over by Dr M.K. Manjunath, the principal, who gave a speech about how to protect our environment and how
to avoid using plastic.
Everyone should plant one sapling to create a better environment.
Environmental protection is our responsibility, and we need to create awareness about it.
