The Women Empowerment Cell and the Women Sexual Harassment Prevention Cell in collaboration with IQAC of Sri Adichunchanagiri First Grade College, Channarayapatna, organized a Special Lecture on Menstrual Hygiene and Sexual Wellness.
The programme was presided over by Dr. M. K. Manjunatha, Principal. The event began with an invocation by Ms. Netravathi, I B.Com Student, followed by a welcome speech by Dr. Nirupama M., Convenor, Women Empowerment Cell. Anchoring for the programme was done by Ms. Chandanashri, III PM Student.
The resource persons for the session were Mrs. Anitha, Health Department, Channarayapatna, and Mrs. Ayeshi Siddaki, Gender Specialist, Women and Child Development Department, Shakti Mission, Hassan.
Mrs. Anitha, in her talk, emphasized the importance of maintaining menstrual hygiene. She highlighted how girls should be cautious about life style to avoid health complications during the reproductive phase. She also discussed adolescent hormonal changes, teenage attractions, and their impact on health and wellbeing. She strongly recommended the safe use of sanitary pads and advised that they should be changed once every six hours during the menstrual cycle.
Mrs. Ayeshi Siddaki elaborated on the various Government schemes and initiatives available for women’s safety and wellbeing. She created awareness about facilities such as the One Stop Centre and Women Helpline, and explained their importance in supporting women in need.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Kavitha J. N., Convenor, Women Sexual Harassment Prevention Cell.
The event was informative and helped create awareness among students about menstrual hygiene, health practices, and women’s welfare schemes.
