On 9th October 2025, the Department of Economics, in collaboration with IQAC, organised a Special Lecture Programme on “Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” at 12:00 PM in the Seminar Hall of Sri Adichunchanagiri First Grade College, Channarayapatna.

The resource person, Dr. Poornima B.S., Associate Professor, Government First Grade College, Channarayapatna, delivered an informative and thought-provoking lecture on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the United Nations. She provided a comprehensive overview of each goal, explaining its importance in addressing global challenges such as poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, and peace and justice.

Dr. Poornima emphasised the interconnection among the goals and highlighted the crucial role of education and youth participation in achieving sustainable development. She illustrated each goal with real-life examples and recent data, helping students understand how these objectives are relevant to India’s development context. She also discussed how individuals and communities can contribute to sustainability through responsible consumption, innovation, and awareness.

Her session inspired students to think critically about their role in promoting sustainable practices and contributing to a better future.

The event was successfully organized under the guidance of Mr. Lokesh G.S., Head of the Department of Economics, with the support of the department staff and students.
