The Department
of Sociology conducted an Essay Writing Competition on 24th November 2025
on the topic “Role of Women in Modern Society.” The event
aimed to promote critical thinking, creativity, and awareness among students
regarding the evolving roles, challenges, and contributions of women in
contemporary society.
The competition
was held in Seminar
Hall – 201 at 11:00 a.m. A total of 42 students
from various programmes actively participated and presented insightful essays
highlighting women’s participation in social, economic, educational, and
political fields, along with discussions on empowerment, equality, and social
change.
The programme
was organised
by
Dr. Praveen Kumar S, Head of the Department of Sociology,
with the support of the Principal, Dr. M. K. Manjunath, and
all faculty members of the department, whose encouragement and guidance ensured
the smooth and successful conduct of the event.
The essays were evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges:

· Sri. Ajay Kumar, Assistant Professor Department of Geography
· Dr. Nirupama M., Head of the Department of Zoology
Their valuable judgement and motivation greatly contributed to the overall success of the programme. The Department expresses its appreciation to all participants for their active involvement and to the college administration for their continuous support. The competition proved to be a meaningful academic activity that enhanced students’ writing skills and understanding of gender-related issues.
