The Department of Botany, Sri Adichunchanagiri First Grade College, Channarayapatna, organised a Special Lecture on “Sasyapaaka Shaale and Basic Study Related to Plant Breeding” on 29th September 2026 at the Seminar Hall. The programme was organised with the objective of providing students with additional academic exposure and enhancing their understanding of plant-related studies and the basic concepts of plant breeding.
Dr. Suresh N. S., Retired Professor of Botany, Government Science College, Hassan, was the Resource Person for the programme. He delivered an informative and insightful lecture on Sasyapaaka Shaale and the fundamental aspects of Plant Breeding. He explained various concepts related to plant improvement and highlighted the relevance of plant breeding in agriculture and the development of improved plant varieties. His practical insights and academic experience helped students gain a better understanding of the subject beyond their classroom learning.
The lecture also provided an opportunity for students to interact with the resource person and clarify their doubts related to the topics discussed. The session encouraged students to develop greater interest in Botany and understand the practical applications of their subject knowledge.
Mrs. Sowmya C. V., HoD, Department of Botany, served as the Convenor of the programme and coordinated the event successfully. The programme witnessed active participation from the students and faculty members of the department.
The special lecture concluded as an enriching academic experience, providing students with valuable subject knowledge and greater awareness of the practical significance of Sasyapaaka Shaale and Plant Breeding.
