The NSS Units of Sri Adichunchanagiri First Grade College, Channarayapatna, organised a “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat – Walk for Heritage, Health and a Drug-Free Youth” to create awareness among students about the harmful effects of substance abuse and to promote healthy habits, physical fitness and a responsible lifestyle.
Dr. Dharanesh, Administrative Officer, Government Hospital, Channarayapatna, was the Chief Guest of the programme. Addressing the students during the morning assembly, he highlighted the harmful effects of drug and substance abuse and urged the youth to stay away from drugs and addictions. He emphasised the important role of young people in building a healthy, disciplined and developed nation.
Following the awareness programme, Dr. Dharanesh and Dr. M. K. Manjunatha, Principal, Sri Adichunchanagiri First Grade College, flagged off the Walk for Heritage and Health. Around 100 students and NSS volunteers actively participated in the walk.
The walk commenced from the college and proceeded through Navodaya Circle, Police Station Circle, Anjaneya Temple, Government Hospital and Mysore Circle, before returning to the college. The walk promoted the message of a drug-free youth, healthy lifestyle, physical fitness and respect for local heritage.
The programme was coordinated by Mr. Bhaskara J., NSS Unit-II Officer, and Dr. Nagaraja N.T., NSS Unit-I Officer. The active participation of students and volunteers made the awareness walk meaningful and impactful. After the completion of the walk, food was provided to the participating volunteers as a gesture of appreciation for their active involvement.
The programme successfully conveyed the message “Say No to Drugs, Stay Healthy and Build a Developed India”, encouraging students to become responsible and health-conscious citizens.
