The Orientation Programme – A Gateway to College Life – was organized by the Colelge to warmly welcome the newly admitted students and provide them with essential information about the academic, cultural, and co-curricular opportunities at the institution.
The programme was anchored by Mrs. Kavitha J.N. It began with a melodious welcome song by Prajwal I., EKP student, followed by a welcome address by Dr. Nirupama M., who encouraged the students to begin their college journey with confidence and enthusiasm. The event was inaugurated by the Principal, Dr. M.K. Manjunatha, along with the faculty members.
Dr. N.T. Nagaraja, HoD of BA- He explained the structure of the BA programme, highlighting its academic scope and career pathways in humanities. He also provided useful details about various scholarship opportunities available for meritorious and economically weaker students.
Mr.Sridhar A.N., HoD of Commerce- He introduced the B.Com. programme and explained the role of the Career Guidance and Placement Cell in shaping students’ futures. He encouraged students to start career planning from their early years. Additionally, he introduced the NCC unit, stressing its importance in instilling discipline, patriotism, and leadership qualities.
Ms. Arpitha H.J.,- She gave an overview of the B.Sc. programme and emphasized the role of science education in developing analytical skills and a problem-solving mindset. They motivated students to make use of research and laboratory facilities provided by the college. Kala Sinchana Cultural Forum- She urged students to actively participate in cultural programmes, noting that cultural engagement enhances confidence, creativity, and teamwork. She reminded students that the forum serves as a platform to showcase their artistic and cultural talents.
Mr. Bhaskara J., Physical Education & Sports- He spoke on the importance of physical fitness and discipline in student life. He also motivated students to take part in zonal, university, and inter-collegiate sports events, reminding them that the college has a proud history of achievements in kabaddi, volleyball, and other sports.
Mrs. Kavitha J.N., Library and Information Centre- She introduced the wide collection of books, journals, and e-resources available at the library. She also guided students on the effective use of the automated e-Granthalaya system, encouraging them to cultivate strong reading and research habits.
Mrs. Niroosha M.R., Bharath Scouts and Guides & College Magazine- She inspired students to join the Scouts and Guides movement as a way of building character, teamwork, and social responsibility. She also spoke about the college magazine, encouraging students to contribute creative writings, articles, and artwork.
Dr. Nirupama M., Women Empowerment Cell, Women Sexual Harassment Prevention Cell, Youth Red Cross & Red Ribbon Unit- She highlighted the importance of women empowerment initiatives, ensuring safety and equality on campus. She further explained the role of the Red Cross and Red Ribbon units in spreading health awareness, blood donation, and social service activities.
Mr. Narasimhamurthy P., National Service Scheme (NSS), Student Grievance Cell & Student Welfare Committee- They assured students that their grievances and concerns would be addressed fairly and promptly. They also underlined the role of the Welfare Committee in supporting students’ academic and personal growth.- He introduced NSS as a platform for social service and character building. He urged students to adopt Gandhian values, cultivate a service mindset, and actively participate in community welfare programmes.
The Presidential Address by Dr. M.K. Manjunatha, Principal, emphasized the vision, mission, and unique academic culture of the institution under the umbrella of UUCMS. He elaborated on the programme structure and motivated the students to make the best use of both academic and extracurricular opportunities for their holistic development.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Bhaskara J., who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty members, and students for their enthusiastic participation.
The Orientation Programme truly served as a gateway for the freshers, equipping them with valuable information, inspiring them to excel, and motivating them to embark on their academic journey with energy and determination.
"ಕಾಲೇಜು ಜೀವನಕ್ಕೆ ಒಂದು ದ್ವಾರ" — ಹೊಸ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಸವಿನಯ ಸ್ವಾಗತ
ಕಾಲೇಜು ತನ್ನ ಹೊಸ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಬಾಗಿಲುತೆರೆದು, "ಕಾಲೇಜು ಜೀವನಕ್ಕೆ ಒಂದು ದ್ವಾರ" ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಓರಿಯಂಟೇಶನ್ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಜರುಗಿಸಿತು. ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಉದ್ದೇಶವು ನೂತನ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳನ್ನು ಆತ್ಮೀಯವಾಗಿ ಸ್ವಾಗತಿಸುವುದು ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲ, ಕಾಲೇಜು ಆವರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಲಭ್ಯವಿರುವ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ, ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ಸಹಪಠ್ಯ ಅವಕಾಶಗಳ ಕುರಿತು ಮಹತ್ವಪೂರ್ಣ ಮಾಹಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಒದಗಿಸುವುದೂ ಆಗಿತ್ತು.
ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ನಿರೂಪಣೆಯನ್ನು ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಕವಿತಾ ಜೆ.ಎನ್. ಕೈಗೊಂಡರು. ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿನಿ ಪ್ರಜ್ವಲ್ ಐ ಅವರ ಮನಮೋಹಕ ಸ್ವಾಗತಗೀತೆ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಕ್ಕೆ ಚಾಲನೆ ನೀಡಿತು. ನಂತರ ಡಾ. ನಿರುಪಮಾ ಎಂ. ಸ್ವಾಗತ ಭಾಷಣ ಮಾಡಿದರು; ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ತಮ್ಮ ಕಾಲೇಜು ಜೀವನವನ್ನು ಆತ್ಮವಿಶ್ವಾಸದಿಂದ ಆರಂಭಿಸಬೇಕು ಎಂಬ ಶಕ್ತಿಶಾಲಿ ಸಂದೇಶವನ್ನು ಅವರು ನೀಡಿದರು. ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲ ಡಾ. ಎಂ.ಕೆ. ಮಂಜುನಾಥ ಮತ್ತು ಅಧ್ಯಾಪಕ ವೃಂದದವರು ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಅಧಿಕೃತವಾಗಿ ಉದ್ಘಾಟಿಸಿದರು.

ಡಾ. ಎನ್.ಟಿ. ನಾಗರಾಜ, ಬಿ.ಎ. ವಿಭಾಗದ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥರು, ಈ ಕೋರ್ಸ್‌ನ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ತಳಹದಿ, ಮಾನವಿಕ ವಿಷಯಗಳ ವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಭವಿಷ್ಯದ ವೃತ್ತಿ ಅವಕಾಶಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ವಿವರಿಸಿದರು. ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿವೇತನ ಯೋಜನೆಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನೀಡಿ, ಆರ್ಥಿಕವಾಗಿ ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿರುವ ಪ್ರತಿಭಾನ್ವಿತ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡುವ ಮಾರ್ಗಗಳನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸಿದರು.

ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀಧರ್ ಎ.ಎನ್., ವಾಣಿಜ್ಯ ವಿಭಾಗದ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥರು, ಬಿಕಾಂ ಕೋರ್ಸ್ ಪರಿಚಯಿಸಿದರು ಮತ್ತು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಮೊದಲ ದಿನದಿಂದಲೇ ವೃತ್ತಿ ರೂಪರೇಷೆ ರಚಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಸಲಹೆ ನೀಡಿದರು. ಅವರು NCC ಘಟಕದ ಪ್ರಾಮುಖ್ಯತೆಯನ್ನೂ ವಿವರಿಸಿದರು—ಶಿಸ್ತು, ದೇಶಭಕ್ತಿ ಮತ್ತು ನಾಯಕತ್ವ ಬೆಳೆಸುವ ಮುಖ್ಯ ವೇದಿಕೆಯಾಗಿರುವುದಾಗಿ ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.

ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಅರ್ಪಿತಾ ಹೆಚ್.ಜೆ., ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ವಿಭಾಗದ ಪರವಾಗಿ, ಬಿಎಸ್‌ಸಿ ಕೋರ್ಸ್‌ನ ಒಳನೋಟವನ್ನು ನೀಡಿದರು. ವಿಶ್ಲೇಷಣಾತ್ಮಕ ಚಿಂತನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಮಸ್ಯೆ ಪರಿಹಾರ ಕೌಶಲ್ಯ ಬೆಳೆಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನದ ಪಾತ್ರವನ್ನು ವಿವರಿಸಿದರು. ಸಂಶೋಧನೆ, ಪ್ರಯೋಗಾಲಯಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಕಲಾ ಸಿಂಚನ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ವೇದಿಕೆಯ ಮಹತ್ವದ ಕುರಿತು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು.

ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಕವಿತಾ ಜೆ.ಎನ್., ಗ್ರಂಥಾಲಯದ ಉಸ್ತುವಾರಿಯಾಗಿ, ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಗ್ರಂಥಾಲಯದ ಸಂಪತ್ತನ್ನು ಪರಿಚಯಿಸಿದರು. ಇ-ಗ್ರಂಥಾಲಯದ ಬಳಕೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಓದುವ ಅಭ್ಯಾಸದ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ವಿವರಿಸಿದರು.

ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ನಿರೂಷಾ ಎಂ.ಆರ್., ಸ್ಕೌಟ್ಸ್ ಮತ್ತು ಗೈಡ್ಸ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಕಾಲೇಜು ನಿಯತಕಾಲಿಕೆ ವಿಭಾಗವನ್ನು ಪರಿಚಯಿಸಿದರು. ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿತ್ವ ವಿಕಾಸ, ತಂಡಬದ್ಧತೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿ ಬೆಳೆಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಘಟಕಗಳ ಪಾತ್ರವನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿ ತೋರಿಸಿದರು. ನಿಯತಕಾಲಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳ ಲೇಖನ, ಚಿತ್ರಕಲೆ ಇತ್ಯಾದಿಗಳ ಪ್ರಕಟಣೆಗೆ ಅವಕಾಶವಿದೆ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.
