On January 31, 2023, Tuesday, the Kannada department in collaborate with the Kannada Sahitya Parishath celebrated the birth anniversary of Varakavi Dr. Da.Ra. Bendre with a special lecture programme, Geetha Gayana, and an essay competition. Mr. Siddarju welcome the guest to the programme. In the programme, Dr. Si. Cha. Yathishwar, HOD of the Kannada Department at AVK College Hassan, spoke about Bendre and discussed his life as well as his contributions to the Kannada Literature. He also sang a poem by Da.Ra. Bendre.
A competition for essays was held in the morning.
