On Saturday, May 20th, 2023, the SAFG College, Channarayapatnam Youth Red Cross & Red Ribbon Unit in collaboration with Department of Zoology was organized a Guest Lecture Programme on Awareness, Early Detection and Prevention of Breast and Cervical Cancer to raise awareness among Female students and Faculties. The causes, detection, and prevention of breast and cervical cancer, as well as treatments for cancer, were discussed with the students. The causes of breast and cervical cancer are outlined by Dr. Amita K., Professor, of the Department of Pathology, AIMS, as follows: smoking, genes, alcohol, an unhealthy lifestyle, junk food, and obesity. She advised girls and boys to get the HPV vaccine and mentioned that the best way to prevent cervical cancer is through routine cervical screening. She also explained the early screening of breast cancer by mammography, MIR, and breast self-examination, which she explained with video. Cervical Cancer by PAP Test, and she has suggested going for HPV vaccination, and she explained an Indian-made vaccine. The Serum Institute of India launched Cervavac, a quadrivalent HPV vaccine that it developed in partnership with the Indian government. Mrs. Radhamma K.M., Assistant Professor Department of Zoology extends a warm welcome to the guest. The program's host, Dr. Nirupama M., introduced Resource Person Dr. Amita K. to the students and faculty. A formal vote of thanks was given by Mrs. Arpitha H.J., Assistant Professor, Department of Physics. Mrs. Kavitha J.N. the Librarian narrated the program and the students offered prayers.
