On September 16, 2023, in honor of World Ozone Day, the Department of Zoology and IQAC jointly hosted a rally and speaking competition for students. To raise awareness among the public about the need to stop air pollution in order to maintain the ozone layer, a rally was held at 10.15 AM from our college campus to Navodaya Circle and to Mysore Circle.
Additionally, a speaking competition was held in partnership with Zoology and Geography students to increase student responsiveness to the need to protect the ozone layer in order to rescue the environment at 12.15 PM. The documentary was also screened to provide viewers with a visual understanding of the ozone hole, its causes, and effects. There were 7 participants in the competition, and Seethal I. B. Sc. C.Z., Chandhana Shree, and Divya M. S. took first, second, and third place, respectively. Chadana A. C., Apoorva M. S., Pavithra S. D., and Akshatha K. N. received consolation prizes. The judges for this competition were Mr. Vijaya Kumar, assistant professor of economics, Mrs. Parvathamma, assistant Professor of Geography, and Dr. Chandrasheker B N., Head of the department of Chemistry. Hosts of the presentation included Mrs. Radhamma K M and Dr. Nirupama M, HOD in Zoology.
