On May 8, 2024, at 12 noon, in Hall 201, the Youth Red Cross and Red Ribbon Unit celebrated "World Red Cross Day". The program started with an invocation song by first year CZ students Miss Apoorva M. S. and Chandana A. C. and Divya M. S. welcomed the gathering. The chief guest watered the plant for the inauguration ceremony.
Dr. Nirupama M, Programme Officer for the Youth Red Cross and Redribbon Unit, provided a succinct overview of the resource person. Dr. Nagaraja NT, Assistant Professor of Political Science at SAFG College, Channarayapatna, delivered an excellent talk on the significance of World Red Cross Day. The Red Cross's past give a brief explanation of the significance of World Red Cross Day in relation to the organization's values, goals, and operations. It serves as a powerful representation of humanity, empathy, and cooperation in order to live a successful life during an emergency. Then there was the anniversary of Henry Dunant's birth, who was the former creator of both the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Red Cross. Ever since, May 8 has been set aside as a yearly celebration of World Red Cross Day. He explained to the volunteers the value of blood and blood donation.
Dr Manjunath M.K then gave a presidential speech regarding the work that our youth Red Cross unit is doing. Talking about the value of volunteering for many organisations, including the YRC unit, NCC, NSS, Scouts, and Guides, is Mr. Shivappa, Assistant Professor of Kannaada.
At the end of the programme, first-year CZ student Ms. Sneha B J gave a felicitation, and librarian Ms. Kavitha J N gave a presentation on this year's World Red Cross Day topic, "I gladly give and the joy I give. is a reward." People learnt the value of compassion, love, care, support, and therapy on this day, as well as how to apply these concepts to improve our lives on a daily basis. The participation of almost 60 volunteers contributed to the success of this programme.
