Drug Abuse Awareness Workshop: Building a Safer Tomorrow

The Youth Red Cross and Red Ribbon Unit of Sri Adichunchanagiri First Grade College, Channarayapatna, in collaboration with the State Level Coordinating Agency (SLCA), Drug Control Programme for Karnataka State, jointly organised a Workshop on “Drug Abuse Awareness: Building a Safer Tomorrow” on 4th October 2025 at 11:00 AM in the Seminar Hall.

The programme commenced with a prayer by Miss. Bhavana, III B.Sc., followed by a welcome address by Dr. Nirupama M., Convener of YRC, SAFG College. Mrs. Shailashree, Project Coordinator, SLCA, Karnataka, delivered the introductory talk, highlighting the importance of spreading awareness among youth about the harmful effects of drug abuse.

The resource person, Mr. Balakrishna Raj., State Resource Person, SLCA, Karnataka, delivered an informative and thought-provoking session on various aspects of drug abuse, its social consequences, and preventive measures. The session was highly interactive and educational for the students.

Dr. M.K. Manjunatha, Principal of the college, delivered the presidential address, appreciating the efforts of the organisers and encouraging students to take a pledge to build a drug-free society. Participants also shared their opinions and feedback on the workshop.

The programme was anchored by Mr. Lokesh G.S., Assistant Professor in Economics, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Kavitha J.N., Librarian, SAFG College. The event concluded with a pledge-taking ceremony and the distribution of certificates to participants.

The workshop successfully created awareness among students about the importance of making informed choices and contributing towards a safer and healthier tomorrow.
