Special Service Activity – Kundur Maata

The NSS Unit of the college organised a Special Service Activity at Kundur Maata on 24 November 2025. A total of 50 students enthusiastically participated in the programme.

The activity aimed to instill a sense of social responsibility among students while contributing to the development of the local community. The volunteers engaged in various service activities such as cleanliness work, creating awareness on hygiene, and assisting the community members with ongoing tasks at the Maata premises. The students actively interacted with the local people, learnt about the cultural importance of Kundur Maata, and gained valuable exposure to community-orientated initiatives.

The programme concluded with positive feedback from the community, appreciating the NSS volunteers for their dedication and discipline. Overall, the activity helped students understand the essence of service and teamwork.














Essay Writing Competition – Role of Women in Modern Society

The Department of Sociology conducted an Essay Writing Competition on 24th November 2025 on the topic “Role of Women in Modern Society.” The event aimed to promote critical thinking, creativity, and awareness among students regarding the evolving roles, challenges, and contributions of women in contemporary society.

The competition was held in Seminar Hall – 201 at 11:00 a.m. A total of 42 students from various programmes actively participated and presented insightful essays highlighting women’s participation in social, economic, educational, and political fields, along with discussions on empowerment, equality, and social change.

The programme was organised by Dr. Praveen Kumar S, Head of the Department of Sociology, with the support of the Principal, Dr. M. K. Manjunath, and all faculty members of the department, whose encouragement and guidance ensured the smooth and successful conduct of the event.

The essays were evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges:

·         Dr. Nirupama M., Head of the Department of Zoology


Their valuable judgement and motivation greatly contributed to the overall success of the programme. The Department expresses its appreciation to all participants for their active involvement and to the college administration for their continuous support. The competition proved to be a meaningful academic activity that enhanced students’ writing skills and understanding of gender-related issues.

Industrial Visit to Wonderla

The Department of Commerce organized an Industrial Visit to Wonderla Amusement Park, Bengaluru, on 21 November 2025 to study Water Management Practices adopted in large-scale recreational establishments. A total of 40 students accompanied by 4 faculty members participated in the visit.

The faculty members coordinated the visit effectively and ensured smooth conduct of all activities. Overall, the industrial visit was highly informative and beneficial for the students, enriching their practical knowledge beyond the classroom.

Special Lecture Programme on Financial Literacy

The Department of Commerce organised a Special Lecture Programme on Financial Literacy in collaboration with SEBI and CDSL. The session was conducted to enhance students’ awareness and understanding of financial planning, investment avenues, and the importance of financial discipline in the modern economic environment.

The resource person for the programme was Dr. Chitra C. N., who delivered an informative and insightful lecture. She highlighted the role of SEBI and CDSL in regulating and safeguarding investors' interests, explained various financial instruments, and emphasised the need for financial literacy among youth.

Students actively participated in the session and gained valuable knowledge about savings, investments, stock markets, and financial security. The programme successfully enriched the students’ understanding of financial management and encouraged them to make informed financial decisions.

Field Study on Industrial Economics: Visit to Chamundeshwari Sugar Industry

The Department of Economics organized a field study visit to Chamundeshwari Sugar Industry, Srinivaspura, Channarayapatna, on 18th November 2025 with 24 students and 3 faculty members. The purpose of the visit was to provide students with practical exposure to the functioning of agro-based industries and to understand their economic relevance in the regional market.

During the visit, Mr. Ramesh, an employee of the factory, explained that the industry processes about 3 to 4 lakh tonnes of sugarcane per year and supplies sugar mainly to Kerala and Bengaluru. He informed that the factory uses Hemavathi River water for its operations and employs around 600 to 650 workers working in three shifts. He also highlighted that the industry recycles sugarcane by-products, ensuring efficient resource utilization and reducing wastage.

Students observed various stages of sugar production, including crushing, juice extraction, boiling, crystallization, and packaging. The visit enabled them to understand labour distribution, cost structure, market linkages, and industrial management practices. Overall, the field study helped students learn the economic importance of the sugar industry and its contribution to local and regional economic development.

Students tasted the sugar and learned the complete process of converting sugarcane into sugar.

National Library Week 2025- Quiz on Current Affairs

As part of National Library Week 2025, the Library and Information Science of Sri Adichunchanagiri First Grade College, Channarayapatna, in collaboration with the Public Library, Channarayapatna, organised a Quiz Competition on Current Affairs on 17 November 2025 at the college Seminar Hall.

A total of 69 students from various programmes enthusiastically participated in the quiz. The event aimed to enhance students’ awareness of current events and to promote the habit of reading newspapers, journals, and authentic information sources.

The programme was monitored and evaluated by the panel members: Dr. Nirupama M., Dr. Praveen Kumar S., Lokesh G.S., and Pavan H.G., who ensured the smooth conduct of the quiz and carried out the evaluation process efficiently.

Mrs. Kavitha J.N., Librarian, served as the Convenor of the event and coordinated all arrangements in collaboration with the Public Library team.

The programme concluded successfully, creating a positive learning environment and encouraging students to stay informed about national and international developments.

Field Visit to Sri Ramadevara Katte Dam Hydroelectric Power Plant

 The Department of Geography organised an educational field visit to the Sri Ramadevara Katte Dam Hydroelectric Power Plant, located at Katte Belaguli, Holenarasipura Taluk, on 14th November 2025. A total of 30 students participated in the visit.

The visit was organised and coordinated by Ms. Nalina H.P., Mr. Ajaykumar H.S., and Dr. Praveen Kumar S. The objective of the visit was to provide students with firsthand exposure to the functioning of a hydroelectric power plant and to enhance their understanding of water resource management and renewable energy production.

During the visit, students observed the structure of the dam, water storage system, and the mechanism of electricity generation through hydropower. The officials at the plant explained the operational process, safety measures, and the significance of hydroelectric power in sustainable development.

This field experience helped students gain practical knowledge related to their geography curriculum and understand the role of hydroelectric projects in meeting energy demands.
