Department of English organised a special lecture on the topic entitled “A Brief Study of Poetry” on 28-03-2026 at 10:30 AM at in the seminar Hall.
The programme commenced with an invocation song by Mr.
Prajwal, I B.A. student. Soon after that Mr. Ningaraju, Head of the Department
of English welcomed the chief guest and gatherings. Thereafter it was
inaugurated by the chief guest and the dignitaries through watering plant as
symbol of prosperity and growth.
Prof. Bernard F, Resource person of the programme from Head of
the Department of English, GFGC, Holenarasipura,delivered an insightful lecture
on poetry, explaining its forms, elements, and significance in literature. His
session was engaging and enriched the students’ understanding of poetic
expression. He threw the light on the emerge of poetry from various writers of
different periods such as words worth of Romantic period and Milton of Puritan
period and his famous works Paradise Last and Paradise Regained and 21st century famous poem Second Coming of WB Yeats. Continuing his
speech explores the theme of Rabhindranath Tagoore’s Geethanjali.
Dr. M.K. Manjunatha, Principal, addressed the students in his
presidential speech who encouraged them to develop a deeper interest in
literature and poetry.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Poojashree
I BSc Student, who expressed gratitude to the resource person, dignitaries, and
participants for making the event successful.
