The Department of Botany, Sri Adichunchanagiri First Grade College, Channarayapatna, organized a field visit to Channarayapatna Lake on 23rd September 2026 to provide students with practical exposure to the study of a pond ecosystem. The visit was coordinated by Ms. Sowmya C. V., Lecturer in Botany, with the participation of 18 students.
During the visit, students observed the various components of the pond ecosystem, including aquatic plants, surrounding vegetation, and other living organisms. They learned about the interaction between biotic and abiotic components and understood the importance of ponds as natural ecosystems supporting biodiversity. The field observation helped students connect their classroom knowledge with real-life ecological conditions and understand the importance of conserving freshwater ecosystems.
The field visit was an informative and practical learning experience that enhanced students’ understanding of aquatic biodiversity, ecosystem interactions, and environmental conservation.
