Preserve Historical Heritage’ Poster Exhibition and Awareness Campaign

The Department of History of Sri Adichunchanagiri First Grade College organized a meaningful ‘Preserve Historical Heritage’ Poster Exhibition and Awareness Campaign on 1st September 2026 as part of the historical heritage conservation initiative of the Karnataka Itihasa Academy.

The programme was organized with the noble objective of creating awareness among students about the importance of preserving the rich historical and cultural heritage of Karnataka. The exhibition highlighted the glorious contributions of the Badami Chalukyas, Rashtrakutas, Hoysalas, and Vijayanagara rulers, along with their remarkable architectural and sculptural traditions.

The posters showcased important aspects of Karnataka’s heritage, including monuments, inscriptions, Veeragallu (hero stones), Mastigallu (memorial stones), and other historical remains. The exhibition emphasized that these are not merely remnants of the past but valuable cultural legacies handed down by our ancestors.

The awareness campaign encouraged students to recognize the importance of protecting historical monuments and preserving them for future generations. Students were sensitized to the need to avoid damaging or defacing monuments and to take an active role in safeguarding historical sites and local heritage.

The programme also emphasized that history is not merely a subject studied for examinations, but a reflection of our identity, culture, and roots. Students were encouraged to become ambassadors of Karnataka’s rich heritage and contribute towards its preservation.

The programme was attended by Principal Dr. M. K. Manjunath, History Department faculty member Mr. Ravivarma K. G., teaching and non-teaching staff, and a large number of students. The initiative successfully created awareness and inspired students to develop a greater appreciation for Karnataka’s historical legacy and to take responsibility for protecting it for future generations.
