The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit on 15th August 2026 at BGS Vedike. The programme commenced at 8:00 a.m. with the flag hoisting ceremony, followed by patriotic songs and inspiring speeches by the distinguished guests.
The programme was graced by the presence of the Chief Guests Mr. Manjunatha H.T., shared his experiences of serving in the Indian Army and encouraged students to consider a career in the armed forces. He explained the various opportunities available in the Army and motivated students to develop discipline, physical fitness, dedication, and a spirit of service to the nation. Due to a physical injury sustained during his service, he had to leave the Army. His inspiring life experience and words of encouragement motivated the students to explore opportunities in the armed forces and serve the nation with commitment.
The
SAFGC Newsletter, Volume 2, Issue No. 2, covering the period from January 2026
to June 2026, was formally released during the celebration. Mr. Manjunatha H.
T., Retired Army Personnel, the Chief Guest, and Dr. M. K. Manjunatha,
Principal, SAFGC, jointly released the newsletter in the presence of faculty
members and students. The newsletter showcases the major academic,
co-curricular, extension, cultural, and institutional activities conducted by
the college during the period.
Dr.
Manjunath M. K., Principal, Sri Adichunchanagiri First Grade College (SAFG
College), delivered the presidential address. In his address, he highlighted
the significance of Independence Day and encouraged students to uphold the
values of patriotism, unity, discipline, and responsibility. He motivated the
students to focus on education and become responsible citizens who contribute
positively to the development of the nation.
As
part of the celebration, students presented several patriotic songs and
cultural performances. Two teams of our students participated enthusiastically
and presented a patriotic dance performance with excellent coordination and
confidence. Their performance beautifully expressed their love and respect for
the nation and was well appreciated by the audience.
The celebration provided an excellent platform for students to showcase their talents and develop a strong sense of patriotism and national pride. The programme concluded successfully, leaving everyone with a renewed feeling of pride and responsibility towards the nation.
