The Career Guidance and Placement Cell of Sri Adichunchanagiri First Grade College organized a Workshop on Competitive Examinations on 12th September 2026. Mr. K. Subramanya, Railway Station Master, Channarayapatna, and Mr. Rangaswamy, Train Manager, Arasikere Railway Station, were the Resource Persons. They provided students with valuable guidance on various Railway Recruitment Board (RRB), Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS), Staff Selection Commission (SSC), and Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) examinations.
During their interaction, the Resource Persons explained the eligibility criteria, examination stages, syllabus, question patterns, preparation strategies, and career opportunities associated with these examinations. They highlighted the importance of understanding the syllabus and examination pattern before beginning preparation.
They particularly emphasized the need for regular reading, general knowledge, current-affairs awareness, quantitative aptitude, reasoning ability, English/Kannada language skills, and systematic practice. Students were advised to solve previous years' question papers, take mock tests, improve time management, and maintain consistency in their preparation.
The Resource Persons also shared insights from their own professional experiences in the Indian Railways, explaining the nature of government employment, workplace discipline, responsibilities, career growth, and the importance of perseverance in competitive examinations. They encouraged students to start their preparation early and make effective use of available study materials and digital resources.
The programme was coordinated by Mr. Sridhar A. N. and Mr. Siddaraju, Convenors of the Career Guidance and Placement Cell. The workshop provided students with practical information and motivation to explore RRB, IBPS, SSC and KPSC examinations as avenues for building careers in the government and public sectors.
