The Department of Zoology organized World Ozone Day – 2026 on 16th September 2026. In the morning session, Dr. Nirupama M., Head of the Department of Zoology, provided brief information about the significance of World Ozone Day, the importance of protecting the ozone layer, and environmental conservation. As part of the celebration, students and faculty members took the Ozone Protection Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to safeguarding the ozone layer and promoting environmental sustainability.
Later, at 12:00 noon, a debate competition was organized on the topic “Development Should Not Be Achieved at the Expense of the Environment.” Four teams participated in the competition, with two teams speaking in favour of the topic and two teams opposing it. Each team consisted of five members.
The debate was conducted in two rounds. The first round provided three minutes for each participant, while the second round allowed two minutes for each participant. Mrs. Kavitha J.N., Librarian, moderated the session. Dr. Nirupama M. served as the Convenor of the event.
Dr. M.K. Manjunatha, Principal, delivered the presidential address and highlighted the importance of environmental protection and sustainable development. The jury members, Mr. Sridhar A.N., Mr. Bhaskara J., and Mr. Siddaraju, evaluated the participants' performances.
